SUCCESS STORY: Blast Mitigation Technology
A $5 billion coating company wanted to leverage government funding for blast mitigation technology. ITECS helped them to identify the funding sources and positioned them for funds already appropriated as well as a congressional ask. The client received $3.5MM over a two year period. The product is currently being specified and a sales and marketing plan was developed to launch the technology for both government and industrial applications.
SUCCESS STORY: Low VOC Resins
A $4 billion materials company wanted to investigate low VOC resins to prepare for new environmental regulations. ITECS worked to identify a partner and then position the product to receive $2.9 million in funding from the Air Force.
SUCCESS STORY: Piezoelectric Fibers
A ceramic company was manufacturing piezoelectric fibers for the recreation market. They needed to create a more robust manufacturing process to expand by offering their technology to larger markets. ITECS worked with the company to identify sources to fund this capital expansion project. By accessing federal agencies, along with the State of Ohio agencies, ITECS helped secure $2 million from the State of Ohio for capital funds and free space in an incubator. They also helped them to develop partnerships allowing the client to expand their technologies to the transportation and aerospace markets, growing their business significantly.
SUCCESS STORY: $30 BILLION CHEMICAL COMPANY
A $30 billion chemical company was interested in obtaining funding for a variety of technology platforms, to further grow their business. They also wanted to establish procurement streams from federal, state and local municipalities and remove barriers for introducing new technology into the industrial market. ITECS worked with the company to align their technology with a variety of agencies and worked with the congressional offices to position the technology successfully. ITECS was able to resulting in $15 million in R&D funding for their client. They also worked with their client to receive registration for their products and to have them specified in several federal, green-mandate initiatives.
SUCCESS STORY: Diabetes II TECHNOLOGY
A large, international pharmaceutical company needed to understand the policy making practices in Washington D.C. around Diabetes II technologies. ITECS tapped into their network to gain access to congressional staff, pharmaceutical think tanks, along with the entire value chain of the health care industry to understand the policies that would be evolving in this market.
SUCCESS STORY: COMMERCIALIZE UNIVERSITY TECHNOLOGY
A university wanted to commercialize a new technology with a partner and obtain government money to help them with the scale-up. ITECS helped them by identifying and facilitating a partnerships with a non-profit organization that specialized in process development and several for-profit companies to help commercialize the technology. ITECS worked with both government agencies, congressional offices, and the State of Florida to capture $5.5MM in federal and state funding. This enabled the University to initially scale up their technology for the aerospace market, while developing applications for the broader industrial market.
SUCCESS STORY: NON-PROFIT IN COMPOSITE TECHNOLOGIES
A non-profit had established a mission to introduce a new composite technology, which would result in new jobs in the for-profit segment. ITECS found several new technologies and help developed the partnerships, so the non-profit would have access to the technology. They worked with federal agencies, the State of Ohio, and various congressional offices to secure $15 million over a 3-year period in federal appropriations, as well as $9 million from state grants.
SUCCESS STORY: AN MRSEC AWARD WIN
The National Science Foundation (NSF) announces a prestigious funding award to sponsor a research center in the field of material development, called the Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC). ITECS helped a major University to evaluate all of their materials research and determine which technologies to develop in the MRSEC, that would differentiate them from all of the other Universities applying. ITECS used their access to gather feedback on the direction from the NSF and managed the process to write and submit the proposal for the University. Their work resulted in a rare $13M MRSEC award.
SUCCESS STORY: A WRIGHT CENTER AWARD WIN
Each year, the State of Ohio’s Department of Development selects University Research Centers to become Centers for Innovation, through the Third Frontier Wright Projects Program. ITECS helped a University and for-profit company partnership to submit a proposal to win this prestigious funding award. Over the past few years, ITECS has helped 7 Centers win this award in the State of Ohio. ITECS worked with the center’s principals to position the technology in a way that would differentiate the University to both the business and scientific community panel of judges. ITECS helped write and manage the proposal process, resulting in the #1 rated proposal out of x and winning a $3M award.
